We are pleased to invite you to the 19th Annual International African American Hotel Ownership & Investment Summit & Trade Show on July 15-17, 2015 at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel, Miami, FL presented by the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine and Horizons International Group. The theme is Moving Forward With Our Partners.

The summit will be exciting and packed with information to help you understand the many opportunities available in hotel ownership, investment and supplier diversity.

The 3-day educational summit is designed to educate attendees on becoming a hotel owner or investor, share minority investment trends, explore supplier opportunities, learn how to market to minorities and discuss diversity issues affecting the industry. The summit opens Wednesday morning, July 15th with the NABHOOD/HBCU Scholarship Deep Sea Fishing & Shark Tournament to raise money for scholarships for minority hospitality students and followed at noon with the Orientation Program for new & prospective hotel owners, Committee Meetings. Later the Opening General Session takes place followed by the Welcome Reception in the evening. General Sessions & workshops are held on Thursday and Friday with Student workshops on Friday and Saturday. The Awards Luncheon on Thursday will recognize individuals and companies who have demonstrated through their actions a commitment to diversity while providing opportunities to minorities. NABHOOD Corporate Dinners take place Thursday evening to allow new & potential owners to spend time with their preferred hotel brand (eligible attendees must sign up in advance and is based on availability). Several hotel companies will have Corporate Suites during the summit and we encourage you to visit them for additional information. The Trade Show is on Friday in addition to our “Focus on the Caribbean” when Caribbean government officials and experts will speak about available investment opportunities and incentives.

Summit attendees include African American hoteliers, entrepreneurs, national leaders and hospitality representatives, city/state/country development representatives and financial experts. Our Thursday Opening Session will feature a presentation on industry trends and “A View From The Top” – last year’s panel included Geoffrey Ballotti. President/CEO, Wyndham Hotel Group; Tom Baltimore, Co- founder/President, RLJ Lodging Trust; Jim Abramson, CEO, Interstate Hotels & Resorts and Warren Q. Fields, Principal, Pyramid Advisors to name a few. The Honorable Khaalis Rolle, Minister of State for Investments Office of The Bahamas spoke last year about investment opportunities. The next summit will be just as interesting. Industry professionals will lead general sessions, workshops and seminars to spark discussion on African American hotel ownership, public/private partnerships, financing, franchising, investment opportunities, creating partnerships, employment & supplier opportunities.

This is your opportunity to meet hotel owners & individuals seeking partners and/or investment opportunities; hotel companies interested in doing business with minorities and other experts to help you achieve your path to joining the hospitality industry. Learn about our effort to increase minority supplier opportunities and hear from Carl Mayfield, Sr. VP of Design & Construction, RLJ Lodging Trust and Angela Clark, Director of Purchasing, Select Service & Extended Stay Brand, Marriott Intl. Meet Norm Jenkins, developer of the largest Convention Center Hotel in DC; Deanne Ayers-Howard, the first African American woman to own a Marriott with her husband LeRoy, who created a partnership to develop more hotels; McDonald restaurant operators, Craig Welburn and Ron & Don Bailey, who are now hotel owners; Barron Harvey, University Dean turned hotel investor and Evens Charles, our youngest hotel owner. Hear how Asian Americans became the largest minority hotel owners in America.
